We are currently experiencing a funding gap and need your support, now, more than ever. We are in the process of writing grants as well as planning a very exciting summer 2014 fundraiser, but until then we need your help.
Our mission is to provide students with the tools and support to meet the educational, vocational and business goals that they might never have thought possible before they came to Youth Interactive. All of our programs are free for students and run by educators and talented mentors who volunteer their time, encourage students to work to reach their dreams and guide their talents. During the last two years we have progressed from a local Santa Barbara startup non-profit to a vital community organization working with hundreds of regional partners.
Here’s a quick look some the exciting things we have accomplished so far in 2014.
→Since last term our student body has grown 33%!!
→We have developed a close partnership with La Cuesta continuation school and the Los Prietos boys camp.
→We have Developed and expanded our existing relationships with regional partners.
→This semester We have paid our students almost $3000 from their student LED entrepreneurial businesses.
→We had three students intern at the 2014 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
→We have Launched social media and live web pages for student led businesses
→ Two of our students have received full scholarships to attend the Global Youth Peace Summit summer camp in San Francisco.
→ We have Completed over 900 hours of student educational programming so far this semester !!
We have expanded our existing relationships with regional businesses, SCORE, the Westside Community Center, and Patagonia. Their support and donations have been a vital lifeline for our youth. Last month for example Patagonia donated another load of recycled fabrics and material to our Pier Pressure Design team, allowing them in turn to make prayer flags and support the Karma Project in Nepal.
In January our mural team had the incredible opportunity to team up with artist Raphael Vargas Suarez to paint the latest mural on the side of the Indigo Hotel. Our students have also participated in two art shows this term, which has been very encouraging for them.
Last month our Solimar Biscotti and Pier Pressure Design team represented Youth Interactive at The 7th annual International Women’s Festival thanks to SCORE who generously provided us with an exhibition booth.
STUDENTS SUPPORTING WHAT THEY VALUE MOST! We are proud and looking forward to the Reel Loud Film Festival, a UCSB & Good News student led fundraiser for Youth Interactive, which will take place in May 2014.
We are so proud of our students here at Youth Interactive and all the time and work they have put into taking their companies from startup to profit. If you value the hard work we do, the students commitments to learning and the mentors who volunteer their time, then you can help us keep our doors open by making any size donation now.
We cannot do the work we are so passionate about without your support. From the smallest amount to the largest, your support will help us provide a future and serve the youth in our community.
