Who knew that there were so many budding pilots in Youth Interactive? Last week, four of our students - Eddie, Jamie, Kristina, and Lucas, representing Pier Pressure and Resurrected by Youth - took their first steps towards learning to fly. On March 28, they spent the day at Santa Barbara Airport at Young Eagles Day, where they began their ground school training. This day was the first event of 2015 for the aviation careers program provided by A Different Point of View.
We are so proud of our students for stepping out of their comfort zones and learning something new. And we are happy that Lynn Houston, founder of A Different Point of View approached us with the generous invitation to have our students in their program. A Different Point of View is a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring and transforming youth through providing flying lessons and more. Through the program, students will spend sessions throughout the year taking flight lessons, participating in leadership training, and networking with professionals across the aviation professions.
Lynn and her organization are true allies in the project to bridge the opportunity divide in our community: no student is ever turned away because of money.
