Thank you Sonos for your donation and partnership!

In 2018, Sonos donated 21 speakers to the Youth Interactive building and we could not be more thankful!

This donation is one of the largest donations Sonos has ever given, and we are so lucky to have been on the receiving end of that! As we overflow with gratitude for Sonos and their generosity, we wanted to share with all of you a little more about the Sonos and Youth Interactive partnership.

I had the privilege of communicating with Susan Monaghan who is the Director of Community Outreach at Sonos. Here is some of what I learned from our conversation:

Monaghan learned about Youth Interactive through Josh Narva, a long time Sonos employee, who put her in touch with one of our board members, Dan Meisel. Dan and Nathalie then invited Sonos to come tour the new building, which as Monaghan put it was, “an empty shell of possibility.” As she heard more about Youth Interactive, Monaghan was touched and saw the importance of giving students a safe place to go and then not stopping there but also giving “the students the skills, confidence and hands-on experience to tackle the world and move forward fulfilling their dreams.” Sonos saw the possibilities and knew that music would only add to the work going on at YI. “Music heals, music brings life, and that’s what we do.”

The people at Sonos are responsible, forward-thinking citizens. They appreciate the work Youth Interactive is doing to reinvigorate State Street and value giving back to the community and making positive change in people’s lives. At Sonos, they believe that “music improves lives and brings people together to share experiences,” which they found to match well with Youth Interactive’s mission.

More than just donating speakers, Sonos is exploring more ways for their 300 plus local employees to continue to collaborate and partner with YI. Whether that be painting and cleaning, mentoring students, teaching music, or shopping at the gallery, Sonos sees the opportunity in this partnership and is excited to use their wide-variety of skills in whatever ways best help. When addressing the future, Monaghan said, “the team at YI thinks outside the box and we know, with that mindset, we can do GREAT things together!”
