Each of our youth led microbusinesses allow youth to put their creativity and skills to work, build a resume, learn valuable entrepreneurial skills, and gain real life work while earning school credit and a paycheck.

We offer a happy creative after school environment. Our professional programs give youth 14-24 a transformational set of real life skills and resources to address Common Core learning standards.

We limit our total enrollment to 90 students in order to provide and connect each youth with the services they need to explore the potential pathways towards their dreams.

The “Get It Done Program” was created to bridge the opportunity divide and help all YI students be life and college ready.

In 2015 we began working on the vision of our biggest overarching Program with the goal to bridge the opportunity divide for our youth. The “Get It Done Program” serves all our students with all the extra curricular support and access to opportunities that will enable them to bridge the opportunity divide. This by far is our most transformational program with the potential to positively impact every one of our students each and every year!

We offer a relaxed, positive, light and happy place where students are safe to be themselves and be accepted for who they are. It is a home away from home where students from all walks of life  can create, innovate, be understood, feel valued and are encouraged to take risks.

A safe place where they will always be supported whether they fail or succeed. A place where they learn that what they have to offer the world right now is just the beginning

We offer an introduction to exciting career possibilities

YI is a place where:

  • Students develop their business ideas, write business plans, pitch to funders and launch real businesses.
  • Students learn financial literacy skills and how to apply those skills to business and to their personal finance management.
  • Students manufacture goods and products that they then sell.
  • Students learn vocational and artisanal skills that are no longer taught in schools.
  • Students learn business skills from volunteer mentors and share in operating a real business from which they earn income.
A place where mentorship is valued and provides every student with a meaningful and supportive adult relationship to assist him or her in achieving

success.

  • Students are paired with mentors who offer support and guidance as well as teach business and life skill
  • We provide students with life skills education, information and support services to empower them to find a viable path to long-term economic self-sufficiency.
  • Working closely with mentors, teachers, and each other, students learn life skills, are connected to services, and receive support and encouragement to apply to and attend college.

A place where we empower students to reach their potential through college and professional careers.

  • Through their experience developing and operating a microbusiness, students build a resume, earn school credit, internship credits, work off probation community hours, learn life and business skills and can proudly say that they were responsible, creative and ran a successful business while at school, all of which help position them for successfully pursuing higher education.
  • We offer proactive older students a way to shine with paid leadership opportunities, which develop character and create pathways to success and excellence in the real world.

For youth who live in poverty, are on probation, are homeless, or struggle in school YI is:

  • A safe meaningful place where they are respected for their contributions and develop mentoring relationships so important to teens;
  • An opportunity to have a voice through exhibitions, commercial services, and business management.
  • The respect and responsibility of paid employment that promotes self-esteem and financial accountability.
  • Educational experiences and support that encourage academic achievement.
  • High school students earn School Credits at YI, which helps them graduate.
  • A direct track to the City College - Running Start Program.
  • Youth on probation the ability to work off their probation community service hours by engaging and being positively tracked in our educational programming.
Youth Interactive is simply a place where we transform students’ experience of what learning is by listening to them, hearing their needs, supporting their passions and by bringing together strong academics, demanding technical & vocational skill and real-world business experience to help students gain an advantage in high school, college and career.
